I was a little surprised that Doris Lessing won the Nobel Prize for Literature, but not disappointed. She certainly deserves it and I'm glad the prize didn't seem to be politically motivated this year.
Lessing's "I don't care" attitude was rather refreshing. It's nice to see an author who cares more about gaining readers and simply writing than garnering prizes and accolades. I'm just sorry the great William Trevor has never won the Nobel. Well, there's always next year! In the meantime, Congratulations, Doris Lessing! This is your year! :)
